My original plan for this video was to make 2 recipes with Brazil nut oil(the recipe that never came to fruition was a salad dressing mixed in with some Raspberry sorbetto and Brazil nut oil), but I only had enough Brazil nut oil for 1 recipe, the pesto- and Brazil nut oil isn't something you can get even at Whole Foods, if you can believe that. It took 2 weeks to get my sole bottle of Brazil nut oil and I was certainly not going to wait another 2 weeks just to get another bottle for this recipe! But in spite of that snafu, this pesto turned out to be really tasty! Though my dad said it was spicy, but he said afterward it was spicy in the sense that there were a lot of herbs in it. Since I was using Brazil nut oil in this recipe, it only made sense to use Brazil nuts too in lieu of pine nuts. Also, I used a blender instead of a food processor because it's easier for me to actually use it. With my food processor, I have to close the lid the right way, otherwise the machine won't work. This recipe makes enough pesto for 2 meals! HELPFUL LINKS: Brazil Nut Oil: https://imlakeshorganics.com/products/brazil-nut-oil/ Brazil nuts: https://nuts.com/nuts/brazilnuts/organic.html You will need: For the cooking equipment: A blender A large bowl For the pesto: 2 cups of fresh basil leaves(equals 2.5 oz. of fresh basil) 2 cloves of fresh garlic 1/4 cup of raw, shelled Brazil nuts 2/3 cup of Brazil nut oil(if you have less, use the remainder of the 2/3 with olive oil instead) Pinch of salt Pinch of black pepper 1/2 cup of Parmesan cheese 1. Put the first 6 ingredients into the blender. 2. Put the lid on the blender, plug the blender in, and pulse until the basil leaves & nuts are coarsely chopped. 3. Unplug the blender, remove the lid from the blender, and pour the pesto into a large bowl. 4. Mix the Parmesan cheese into the pesto. Use it on top of spaghetti or burgers. Bon appetit!

I remember eating Kellogg's S'morz cereal back when I was 12. It was so good! Then it got discontinued and I was sad. But years went by until S'morz cereal was finally back in stores(along with many foodstuffs from the '90s, because millennials), just not in my local supermarket. But that's where Amazon comes in! The link on where you can get this glorious cereal is in the HELPFUL LINK below! I used S'morz cereal in a previous recipe when I made S'mores Deluxe Pancakes, but S'morz cereal is so good, I thought it deserved its own ice cream flavor. You might be wondering, "Why not a S"mores Deluxe Ice Cream?" Answer: My ice cream maker can only fit so many add-ins like cereal before the engine in the maker starts slowing down. :( But I also figured if I add graham crackers and chocolate chunks, it would detract from the S'morz cereal in the ice cream. I was going to make a chocolate swirl for this ice cream but I didn't realize that would take 2 hours when I realized I only had 30 minutes to chill the ice cream base before pouring it into the ice cream maker. You might not be able to fit many add-ins into an ice cream maker but you can put them in between layers of the ice cream when you pour it into an ice cream tub, not to mention put some add-ins on top of the ice cream! Even my dad, who isn't a fan of chocolate ice cream(his favorite flavor is plain ol' vanilla), loved this ice cream! It's simple too! HELPFUL LINK: S'morz Cereal: https://www.amazon.com/Kelloggs-Cereal-Smorz-10-20-Ounce/dp/B01ALC0182/ref=sr_1_1_s_it?s=grocery&ie=UTF8&qid=1474228199&sr=1-1& Inspiration for this recipe from http://icecream.about.com/od/ice-cream-frozen-custard/r/Easy-Chocolate-Ice-Cream-Recipe.htm You will need: For the cooking equipment: A large bowl Aluminum foil An ice cream maker An ice cream tub For the ice cream: 2 cups of whole milk 1/2 cup of cocoa powder 1 cup of granulated sugar 1 1/2 cups of heavy whipping cream 1 tsp. of vanilla extract 1/3 cup of S"morz cereal, plus more for topping in the middle and top of the ice cream(see HELPFUL LINK) 1. Put the first 5 ingredients into a large bowl. Mix all the ingredients together until the sugar and cocoa powder dissolves. 2. Put aluminum foil on top of the large bowl. Put the large bowl in the fridge to let the ice cream base chill for 30 minutes. 3. Turn your ice cream maker on and pour the chilled ice cream base into the ice cream maker. Let the ice cream maker churn for 11-13 minutes. 4. Cut the graham cracker pieces from the S"morz cereal in half(you don't need to do anything to the marshmallows) and put 1/3 cup of the chopped cereal into the ice cream maker. Let the ice cream maker churn for an additional 3-5 minutes. 5. Turn the ice cream maker off and pour half of the ice cream into an ice cream tub. 6. Top the ice cream in the tub with more S'morz cereal(you don't need to cut up the cereal this time). Cover the S"morz cereal with the rest of the ice cream. Top that ice cream with more S'morz cereal. 7. Close the lid on the ice cream tub and put the ice cream in the freezer for at least 2 hours, or overnight. 8. Bon appetit! When I first heard of the existence of Swedish Fish Oreos, I was game to get some. Sadly, the only stores they were sold in were at Kroger's supermarkets in the midwest. However, thanks to the power of Amazon, I was able to buy a box online of this Oreo flavor the Internet loves to hate. The Oreos are actually pretty tasty(and I'm not trolling anybody when I say this), the cream has a strong cherry smell but a taste between a mix of cherry and lingonberries(Swedish berries). The cream tastes pretty similar to the Swedish Fish candies themselves. When I think of Swedish fish(that is, fish from the country Sweden), I think of herring(which may or may not be Swedish in origin). My mom(who was Jewish) loved herring and gefilte fish(the latter of which is from Israel, not Sweden). I think I got that acquired taste of fish from her. I can still recall being in 7th grade and one of my classmates, Kaitlyn, loved Swedish Fish candies- and that was my first introduction to Swedish Fish candies. Everybody at my day job was intrigued when I told them I was making a herring meatloaf this weekend. But I didn't tell them about the Swedish Fish part of it... The taste of the meatloaf was pretty salty, but then again herring is salty, as it is fish canned in a jar with some cream sauce(I don't like herring in wine sauce). But if you eat a Swedish Fish candy with every bite, it's very appetizing. HELPFUL LINK: Swedish Fish Oreos: https://www.amazon.com/Limited-Swedish-Oreo-Sandwich-Cookies/dp/B01K6N2GQG/ref=sr_1_1_s_it?s=grocery&ie=UTF8&qid=1474141095&sr=1-1& You will need: For the cooking equipment: A large bowl A plate Ziploc bag A lasagna pan Nonstick cooking spray For the meatloaf: 2/3 tbsp. of onion powder 2 beaten and whisked eggs 16 ounces of herring in cream sauce, chopped up 10 Swedish Fish Oreos(see Helpful Link) Pinch of salt Pinch of black pepper Swedish fish candies to top the meatloaf 1. Put the first 4 ingredients into a large bowl. 2. Separate the red cream from the cookies. Put the red cream into the large bowl and the cookies into a Ziploc bag. Close the bag and crush up the cookies with your fists. Dump the crushed cookies into the large bowl. 3. Add salt and black pepper into the large bowl. 4. Mix all the ingredients up until you get a somewhat firm meatloaf mixture(it's very hard considering the herring are in a cream sauce). 5. Spray a lasagna pan with nonstick cooking spray. 6. Form 2 loaves from the meatloaf mixture. 7. Bake the meatloaves in a 375 degree Fahrenheit oven for 15-20 minutes. 8. Take the meatloaves out of the oven and top the meatloaves with Swedish Fish candies. 9. Bon appetit! Note: Most jars of herring say "May contain bones" so watch out for them when you eat this meatloaf! But from my experience, the bones are pretty tiny and not noticeable in your mouth. I love when Lay's comes up with creative new potato chips flavors- like Tikka Masala, because that inspires me to make meatloaf recipes using those potato chips and the flavor they represent, like Indian Tikka Masala. But when I looked up a Tikka Masala recipe(http://allrecipes.com/recipe/45736/chicken-tikka-masala/), I noticed they used yogurt in the sauce, and I wanted to use the craziest yogurt flavor available in my area, which is chocolate yogurt(maple is also weird, but maple chicken doesn't really go together)! You can tell I like pairing chocolate with weird-a** things, like pig kidneys and pig's feet! But you don't taste any chocolate in the sauce at all! However, you do taste lots of spices, perhaps maybe too much spices... This was my first time making a meatloaf based on a bona fide Indian dish. One of my first videos was a meatloaf using curry powder but the overall meatloaf wasn't Indian in nature. The meatloaf turned out a little dry. In the video, I attributed it to the sauce evaporating in the oven but now that I think about it, it's probably because the meat I used(98% ground chicken breast) was so lean. But I thought I added enough liquids in the meatloaf to keep it moist. You can dip the meatloaf in the Chocolate Tikka Masala sauce(just be sure to have a glass of milk nearby because it's spicy!), ketchup, or ranch dressing(the latter two if you're not into spicy condiments). The meatloaf looked like fried chicken for some reason- maybe it was the turmeric I put in because turmeric makes any food a golden color(and makes for a natural yellow food coloring). HELPFUL LINK: Lay's Indian Tikka Masala potato chips: https://www.amazon.com/Lays-Kettle-Cooked-Indian-Passport/dp/B01KDKRGKI/ref=sr_tnr_p_1_6558934011_1_s_it?s=grocery&ie=UTF8&qid=1473542764&sr=1-1& You will need: For the cooking equipment: A frying pan A spatula A large saucepot with a lid A large bowl A lasagna pan Nonstick cooking spray For the Chocolate Tikka Masala sauce: 1/2 an onion 1 jalapeno pepper Garlic powder Olive oil for sautéing 1 cup of heavy whipping cream 8 ounces of tomato sauce 8 ounces of chocolate yogurt 2 tsp. of cayenne pepper 1 tsp. of cinnamon 2 tsp. of black pepper 2 tsp. of cumin 2 tsp. of paprika 3/4 tsp. of ground ginger 1 tbsp. of dried cilantro 1/2 tsp. of salt, or to taste 1 tbsp. of lemon juice 1 tbsp. of butter For the meatloaf: 2 beaten and whisked eggs 3/4 cup of Chocolate Tikka Masala sauce Pinch of turmeric Pinch of cinnamon Pinch of ground ginger Pinch of paprika Pinch of garlic powder Pinch of black pepper Pinch of cayenne pepper Pinch of cumin Pinch of dried cilantro Pinch of salt 1 cup of crushed Lay's Tikka Masala potato chips(see HELPFUL LINK) 1 pound of 98% ground chicken breast Chocolate Tikka Masala sauce, ketchup, or ranch dressing for dipping the meatloaf in(optional) How to make the chocolate tikka masala sauce: 1. Sautee the first three sauce ingredients in a frying pan with olive oil in it until the onion is translucent. 2. Put the sauteed food into a large saucepot. 3. Add the next 12 sauce ingredients into the large saucepot. Mix all the ingredients up to integrate the spices into the sauce. 4. Bring the saucepot to a boil. Once it's boiling, reduce the heat to a simmer, put the lid on top of the saucepot, and let the sauce simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. 5. Add and mix the butter into the simmered sauce. Top with dried cilantro(optional). How to make the chocolate chicken tikka masala meatloaf: 1. Put the beaten and whisked eggs into a large bowl. 2. Add 3/4 of the Chocolate Tikka Masala sauce to the large bowl, along with all the other meatloaf ingredients. 3. Mix all the ingredients up until all the ingredients are distributed evenly among the meatloaf mixture. 4. Spray a lasagna pan with nonstick cooking spray. 5. Form 2 loaves in the lasagna pan from the meatloaf mixture. 6. Bake in a 350 degree Fahrenheit oven for 60-65 minutes, or until the internal temperature of the meatloaves reaches 165 degrees Fahrenheit. 7. If the meatloaf is too dry for you, dip it in either the Chocolate Tikka Masala sauce, ketchup, or ranch dressing. Bon appetti! Normally I plan which recipes I do several months in advance but I saw a video on the HellthyJunkFood channel(yes, the first word of the channel is spelled that way deliberately and those three words have no spaces in between them) about JP(the host) dyeing some white shredded cheese blue and purple for his wife, who thought the sandwich with the colored cheese was disgusting: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D1yfICX7LdY
When I see some other YouTuber making a recipe using food coloring, I always have the urge to make that same recipe and use gray food coloring instead, just to disgust people. I pretty much will eat anything that isn't:
The grilled cheese sandwich ended up tasting like your ordinary grilled cheese sandwich, though it looked like I was eating paint! I haven't eaten actual paint since i was in preschool(but haven't we all eaten paint at 3 or 4 years old?). Based on HellthyJunkFood's video, mozzarella cheese didn't work, so don't use that instead of white cheddar cheese, or any cheese not white in color! HELPFUL LINK: Gray Food Coloring: https://www.amazon.com/Nifty-Shades-Gray-Food-Color/dp/B01DEEEFL8/ref=sr_1_1_s_it?s=grocery&ie=UTF8&qid=1473100724&sr=1-1& You will need: For the cooking equipment: A frying pan 2 small bowls Gloves to protect your hands from staining A fork and spatula to flip the sandwich over For the food: 1 cup of shredded white cheddar cheese 1/3 cup of milk 2 different types of gray food coloring(see HELPFUL LINK) Olive oil 2 slices of bread Fries to eat with the sandwich 1. Heat the frying pan up. Put the stove on medium heat. Pour the cheese and milk into the frying pan. Mix both together until the cheese is fully melted and the milk has mixed in with the melted cheese. 2. Pour the cheese mixture into 2 small bowls. 3. Put 2-3 drops of gray food coloring in each small bowl. Use 2 different shades of gray food coloring to get that galaxy appearance(I used taupe and stone food coloring). 4. Mix the food coloring in with the cheese mixture in each bowl until it's fully gray in color. 5. Pour the taupe colored cheese in with the stone colored cheese(or whatever shade of gray you're using). Mix the 2 colors together. 6. Pour olive oil into a frying pan and spread the oil around the pan. Heat the oil up by turning the stove on. 7. Once the oil is heated up, put 1 slice of bread into the frying pan. Then only pour enough gray cheese to cover the top of the slice of bread. 8. Top the gray cheese with the 2nd slice of bread. Let the sandwich cook for 20-30 seconds before turning it over. 9. Flip the sandwich over with a fork and spatula. Let the sandwich cook for 20-30 seconds on the other side. 10. Turn the stove off and put the sandwich onto a plate with some fries. 11. Cut the sandwich in half. Pour any remaining gray cheese on top of the sandwich and fries. 12. Bon appetit! I'm not much of a gamer but there are three video game series that I love: Spyro the Dragon(way back when PlayStation 1 was the console to get), Mario Kart, and Angry Birds. You can probably tell from the title of this blog post that I made the meatloaf based off of the latter of the three.
I'm inspired by colorful things when it comes to my meatloaf recipes, if you're a fan of my videos(like all of the rainbow recipes I've done). The meatloaf turned out not to hold its shape very well but that's probably because I added 1 too many bananas to this recipe. Every great meatloaf has breadcrumbs...but I forgot those on my latest meatloaf hybrid! :( Other than that, all the components of a great meatloaf dinner are there, in the form of tacos: ground beef, mashed potatoes(although I only had mashed sweet potatoes at the time, so I used those instead), ketchup, tomato sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and baby carrots. Because this is the go-to option for when you're stuck between on whether to have meatloaf or tacos for dinner! This is a surprisingly easy recipe. My dad said this recipe is right up there with the Honey Graham Sauerbraten I made him last Father's Day! But he didn't care for having mashed sweet potatoes in his tacos. Even when I make meatloaf hybrid recipes, he is an ardent meatloaf traditionalist! I used a taco kit to make this recipe but you can just buy the ingredients separately too. You will need: For the cooking equipment: A saucepot A baking tray A plate A large bowl For the tacos(I didn't use measurements for most of the ingredients this time because it's all up to you when it comes to how much you want of each ingredient in your tacos and sauce): 1 pound of browned, drained ground beef 3/4 cup of water Taco or meatloaf seasoning packet Taco shells Flour tortillas Mild taco sauce Sour cream Ketchup Tomato sauce Dash of Worcestershire Sauce Chopped up baby carrots Mashed sweet potatoes or mashed potatoes Breadcrumbs for garnish 1. Put the ground beef, water, and seasoning packet into a saucepot. Mix all the ingredients together. 2. Bring the liquid in the saucepot to a boil. Once the liquid is boiling, reduce the heat to a simmer for 10 minutes. 3. Put however many taco shells you want onto a baking tray and warm them up in the oven at 300 degrees Fahrenheit for 3-5 minutes. 4. Put however many flour tortillas you want onto a plate and warm them up in the microwave for 30 seconds. 5. Mix mild taco sauce, sour cream, ketchup, tomato sauce, and Worcestershire sauce in a large bowl to your liking. This will be our Meatloaf Taco sauce. 6. For the taco shell tacos, spoon beef mixture, mashed sweet potatoes, shredded cheese, chopped up baby carrots, breadcrumbs, and Meatloaf Taco sauce into the inside of the taco shells. 7. For the flour tortillas, spoon beef mixture, mashed sweet potatoes, shredded cheese, chopped up baby carrots, breadcrumbs, and Meatloaf Taco sauce into the center of each tortilla. Fold the tortillas into a taco shape. 8. Bon appetit! |
